We wanted to share with you the recovery story of this amazing mare. The photos are fairly gory – you have been warned!
Back in September 2015, this lovely girl tried, rather unsuccessfully, to jump a metal gate out of her field.
She sustained a big wound to her left armpit approximately 20cm deep and 30cm long, through the muscle but luckily avoiding any of the major vessels and nerves.
It took Lara 3 hours to suture the wound back together. She was on an intensive course of antibiotics and pain relief for the next few days but hasn’t look back since!
The final photos were taken in March 2016 with a selection of the wound healing. She is now back jumping and we are so pleased with her progress!
