Damien Cain

BVSc MRCVS, Veterinary Surgeon & Clinical Director

Damien graduated from University of Melbourne, Australia in 1999. He worked for 4 years in mixed/equine practice in Australia before heading off to travel the world.

Over the next three years he worked as a locum equine vet in various parts of England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales, before settling down with a lovely girl from Yorkshire. He started working for us in 2006 for two years before returning to Australia with his now wife, Jo (our Practice Manager) and their two sons. Damien has been our Clinical Director since 2018. He has a special interest in equine reproduction and breeding with ‘problem’ mares as well as general equine internal medicine.

Libby Dutton

MRCVS, Veterinary Surgeon

Libby completed her studies at the University of Liverpool, School of Veterinary Science and graduated with commendation in July 2022.

Throughout her studies she has completed placements at a number of world renowned hospitals, including Newmarket Equine Hospital and Leahurst Equine Hospital, where she gained lots of hands on experience.

Her favourite ways to spend days off include walking her Border Terrier, Reggie in the Peak District and meeting up with friends. Libby has always had a keen interest in horses and has been riding since she was just 6 years old! Before university she spent time working on a show yard and as a groom.

Katherine Evans

MRCVS, Veterinary Surgeon

Kitty completed her studies at the Royal veterinary college in 2021.

Before joining EVC Kitty worked in a mixed practice in Staffordshire and an equine practice in Suffolk before moving back up North to be closer to family and friends

Her favourite things to do in her spare time are exploring the countryside with her black lab Storm, cooking and spending time with friends.

Amelia Smiles

MRCVS, Veterinary Surgeon

Millie graduated from the University of Surrey in July 2022.

Following graduation, she completed an 18-month rotating internship at Sussex Equine hospital gaining experience in anaesthesia, imaging, lameness and patient care. Millie joined our team in March 2024 and enjoys all areas of Equine practice.

She has ridden horses for over 15 years and competed for the University equestrian team after selling her horses prior to starting her studies.

In her spare time she competes in triathlon and is currently training for a Half Ironman race in 2025.

Emma Gensmantel

MRCVS, Veterinary Surgeon

Emma completed her studies at the University of Nottingham in the summer of 2024. During her studies she gained lots of experience at a variety of different equine hospitals including Rainbow Equine Hospital and Oakham Equine Hospital; even spending some time with the army horses at the Defence Animal Training Regiment.

Her favourite things to do on her days off are walking in the countryside and competing in agility with her two Miniature Schnauzers
